Background: Simultaneous occurrence of femoral and inguinal
hernias is rare, and even more uncommon is their association with a ruptured
urinary bladder and incarcerated bowel. Such complex presentations pose
significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Prompt recognition and
surgical intervention are critical to prevent morbidity and mortality.
Objective: This case report aims to describe the clinical
presentation, diagnostic approach, surgical management, and outcomes of a
patient presenting with concurrent left femoral and left inguinal hernias
complicated by bladder rupture and bowel incarceration.
Methods: A detailed clinical evaluation, imaging studies,
and intraoperative findings were used to guide diagnosis and treatment. The
patient underwent emergency surgical repair, including reduction of
incarcerated bowel, bladder repair, and hernia correction. Postoperative
recovery and follow-up were closely monitored to assess outcomes and
complications.
Results: The patient presented with acute lower abdominal
pain, swelling in the left groin region, and urinary symptoms. Imaging revealed
dual hernias and evidence of bladder rupture. Surgical exploration confirmed
incarceration of a small bowel loop and bladder injury. Successful repair of
the bowel and bladder, along with hernia correction, was performed. The
patient’s postoperative course was uneventful, and full recovery was achieved.
